As summer turns to fall we find ourselves gravitating to darker, moody hues. We figured its the perfect time of year to share Desiree and Joey's wedding with you! The sweet couple hosted an intimate destination wedding at the Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, Hawaii. The wrought-iron arch draped in florals and greenery is one of our favorite to date. We are honored to be featured on the cover of Maui No Ka Oi magazine this month! The editors designed a wonderfully romantic photo shoot at the ruins of the historic Haiku Mill to showcase wedding and honeymoon fashion. A table for two was set to resemble the mood and color of a Dutch painting. You can see the full feature story here.

The amazing photography studio at Callaway Gable shared their thoughts on this gorgeous Maui destination wedding: A Haiku Mill wedding is one of the best ideas if you are thinking of a Hawaiian destination wedding. The Haiku Mill was once a sugar processing plant in the late 1800’s. Today it is one of Maui’s most unique wedding venues. Located just outside of Paia, the Haiku Mill sits on the northern end of Maui, just on the edge of the rain forest. With super lush jungle surrounding the old world architecture, it is also one of our favorite places to photograph.
This wedding was planned and designed by our friend Brooke Keegan of Brooke Keegan Special Events. Other friends include the always amazing Garnish Craft Cocktails, Spago, DJ Nahchey, Ohana Films and Ceci from New York who made the beautiful invitations. This was a crazy day because of the rain. This is why the Haiku Mill is so amazing – they have built a plexiglass roof over the mill to protect the guests from getting wet. It’s truly a remarkable place for a wedding celebration with friends and family.

Cambria and Will's destination wedding was held on the oceanfront lawn at Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort. It was a bohemian dream with lush blush and ivory floral centerpieces and garlands of greenery. The sweetheart table featured macrame hanging decor on a backdrop of reclaimed wood. Thank you for the beautiful photos, Anna Kim!
Jen and Tommy’s wedding day at OLOWALU PLANTATION HOUSE was a vibrant destination celebration. Having been in the wedding industry for more than 15 year, it’s assumed that bride-to-be Jen would have had her whole day mapped out. But as it turns out, she leaned heavily on friends, family and trusted vendors like LA FLEUR WEDDINGS & EVENTS to help influence her big day. The result was a bright and colorful beach wedding! MICHAEL & ANNA COSTA captured it all and we could’t love the happy images any more! You can read the full feature on Grey Likes Weddings here.
The bride says, "One of my revelations in regard to the design and look of our wedding was that there was no one color scheme or design in anything I chose. I love color, and lots of it and was thrilled with the whimsical and colorful bouquet, ceremony decor and centerpieces that my florist, Theresa Sena, created. They paired perfectly with the fun linens from La Tavola as well as with the venue that was set on an old plantation on the beach in Olowalu."

Lindsay and Matt's classic white wedding at the Haiku Mill was featured on Novelty Bride. The sweet couple met working at a sushi restaurant in Boulder, Hapa. She Linsay says, "I was a hostess working part time, while I was still in college, and Matt a sushi chef. I remember the moment I asked my coworker who was the guy behind the sushi bar with red beard and the rest was history. One of our first dates he surprised me with taking me to L&L BBQ in Denver."
Lindsay danced to 'No Kipukai' By Bill Kaiwa. It was a very special song because her family presently owns Kipukai, located on Kauai. Her Ancestor, Jack Waterhouse, bought the property back in 1948, which the song acknowledges him. It is a very sacred place to Lindsay's family. Lindsay took 8 years of hula and was taught the song under Kumu, Gordean Bailey. She was lucky enough to practice the song with her before the wedding a couple of times. AND was able to keep it a secret from Matt!

Get ready for some serious eye candy. Weddings at Haiku Mill are always amazing, its definitely without a doubt one of the most amazing and iconic places to get married in Hawaii, and Miguel and Lesley's magical destination wedding was no exception. For flowers, we went with a bright color story to evoke springtime! Thank you for the amazing photos, Angie Diaz!

Lian recalled reading about Haiku Mill, a more than 150-year-old ruin, now a wedding venue, and they decided, "Let's do this!" she says. Just four months later, 60 loved ones watched as the couple stood under trailing orchid blooms at the historic sugar mill and were married in a Seventh-day Adventist ceremony.
The pair had ultimately planned their March 23, 2015, nuptials quickly; still, every detail was packed with meaning. That included the music during the ceremony, when, as Lian walked down the aisle, "Erween surprised me by singing Adele's 'Make You Feel My Love,' and tears came to my eyes," she recalls. It was also true of the décor: Lian incorporated elements from Indonesia, where her father was raised and she spent childhood summers. On a trip to Bali, her dad commissioned chandeliers, chargers, and flower vessels, made from local capiz shells, all of which got held up in customs. "It was such a relief when the crates finally arrived in time for the wedding," says Erween—and a reminder that truly special moments are well worth the wait.
Menus handwritten in gold ink on oversize die-cut palm fronds served as menus and played off the patterned runners. Each table was set with centerpieces of white roses and local foliage and blooms, including king proteas, photinias, and kupukupu ferns.

I had the pleasure of joining the team at Pacific Weddings magazine for an editorial shoot at Maui's Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm which boasts incredible views of the island from above the clouds. The dark wooden farmhouse table echoed the rustic nature of the farm. Weathered ivory urns were overflowing with antique hydrangea, white and pink Astilbe, golden roses, magnolia leaves and green baby guava fruit. Each place setting features white linen dinnerware and vintage amber glasses by Set. I particularly loved the whimsical bouquet we created of golden roses, antique hydrangea, pink Astilbe and geranium. The photos by Brandon Kidd turned out beautifully! xoxo T
We were so thrilled to see Caitlin and Loren's tropical Haiku Mill Maui wedding featured in the pages of Martha Stewart Weddings! It was featured in their 2013 Special Fall Issue. You can also see more images and read some details on their destination wedding here.
The Haiku Mill was the perfect lush backdrop for the style direction of the day: minimal, green and fun. It really is one of the most breathtaking venues in the world. Sending a big thank you to photographer Rachel Thurston for capturing the beautiful day. xoxo T
